PATTON STEPHENS Director of Operations and Client Services

Joining OCL in the fall of 2008 gave me the perfect opportunity to blend my past work in leadership development and coaching, program evaluation, project management, and writing into the role of Director of Operations and Client Services. My natural way of looking at systems and organizations is to see what is working, as well as what could be more effective, an approach that allows me to take the best of what is and help make it better. I am a stickler for top-notch customer service and have received outstanding client feedback on my ability to work collaboratively to create customized programs that align with broader organizational strategy and meet pressing organization needs.

I also have a keen ability to take initiative, set strategic priories, and drive the results. For myself, OCL, and our clients, I hold true to my long-standing working approach of encouraging individuals and groups to set and reach high-impact, external goals in ways that also facilitate long-lasting, internal change-a two-tiered approach that is the only combination that brings enduring success.
In my role as Director of Operations and Client Services, I manage the business of the OCL Group by overseeing daily operations, accounting and book keeping, invoicing, business planning, proposal development and writing, and contract management. I also serve as Project Manager for some engagements and as leadership coach for some individual clients.

I hold a Master of Public Administration degree, am a Certified Executive Coach and certified in Emotional Intelligence Assessment and Performance-based Coaching, received a Certificate in Organization Development from Georgetown University, and completed the Facilitator Training for Personal Development in Professional Settings through the Inner Journey Seminars. I have also completed training courses in Results Based Facilitation and professional writing at Georgetown University and the Writer's Center in Bethesda, MD.

Prior to joining OCL, my clients and employers included Kaiser Associates; Transformation Systems Inc.; ; JBS International; IBM; the Center for Science in the Public Interest; U.S. Government Accountability Office; the U.S. Departments of Agriculture, Education, and Labor; and numerous individuals seeking Life Coaching outside their work environment. I am currently a member of the Writer's Center in Bethesda, MD, and an active leader in Friends of Sligo Creek in Takoma Park, MD.

My other loves include being with my two children and husband and being "project manager" for our family, spending time near Sligo Creek, writing and blogging about thriving in midlife, spending time in the mountains, gardening, and reading the poetry of Rumi and Mary Oliver, among others.
